Plate Joining Jig
Here are the details for making a plate joining jig for the uke project. If you already have a method and a jig, fine, use what you have. If you don't have a jig, make this one. It is cheap and easy to make. You can use any flat piece of 5/8" or 3/4" plywood to make it. The wedges can be any kind of wood you have around. For the cord get a 50' or so length of nylon braided cord from the hardware store. They may have various diameters, so just get something less than 1/4". Almost anything will work. If possible, if you have the tools, construct the jig before the first class. It does not have to be pretty, just needs to be functional!

The bottom of the jig has a cleat so that you can clamp it in a vise.
