1.Turning a road kill boxspring into useful clamps.-Submitted by Bob Gleason.

Some of my most useful clamps are made from the largest loop found in the coils of boxspring mattresses. I highly recommend buying a set of bolt cutters to remove the springs. I've done it with a hacksaw and it's no fun! Pictures should tell the story. Basically you remove the largest loop, stick a couple of 1" pieces of 1/2" dowel onto the ends, and clamp away. The dowels are not glued on. I just drill the appropriate size hole for a good press fit. I've used clamps like this for 20 years, bending them smaller for use on ukes and larger for use on guitars. They are great for gluing on tops and backs and never seem to wear out or lose their spring.
